Since ChatGPT launched in late 2022, the conversational AI market has seen explosive growth, with predictions placing it at nearly $50 billion globally by 2031, according to MarketsAndMarkets. Among the rising players in the space is Synthflow AI, a Berlin-based startup that is carving out its niche with a focus on being an enterprise voice AI platform that’s simple to deploy yet powerful under the hood.

Launched in 2023, Synthflow offers a no-code platform enabling businesses to build and roll out white-labeled voice AI agents for customer service. What sets the company apart isn’t just its ease of use—it’s the infrastructure behind it. Synthflow’s voice bots are both HIPAA and GDPR compliant and connect seamlessly with more than 200 enterprise tools, including Salesforce, Twilio, and HubSpot.

In just over a year, Synthflow has amassed over 1,000 customers and processed more than 45 million calls, positioning itself as a go-to solution for businesses that need scalable, secure, and integrated voice automation.

Building Voice AI the Hard Way—And Loving It

For co-founder and CEO Hakob Astabatsyan, the journey began with OpenAI’s ChatGPT API in early 2023. Alongside co-founders Albert Astabatsyan (CPO) and Sassun Mirzakhan-Saky (CTO), he began experimenting with no-code AI tools. Initially, the team played with text-based bots, but their curiosity led them into voice—a space that turned out to be far more complex and technically demanding.

“We realized, oh my god, voice is really complicated,” Hakob shared. “Handling live conversations, low latency, and interruptions—it was a technical nightmare. But we fell in love with that challenge.”

The team doubled down, forming Synthflow and spending the remainder of 2023 developing the platform. They launched an MVP in early 2024 and rolled out an enterprise-grade version by year’s end. The company has since grown 15x year-over-year, maintaining over 90% retention from its enterprise users and currently processes over 5 million calls each month.

Backed by Accel, Synthflow Eyes Global Expansion

Synthflow recently closed a $20 million Series A round led by Accel, with participation from Atlantic Labs and Singular. The fresh capital will support team expansion, R&D acceleration, and the launch of the startup’s first U.S. office—location still to be decided.

Accel partner Luca Bocchio said his firm had tracked Synthflow since its earliest stages. What impressed him was the founding team’s strong product vision and commitment to deep integrations with enterprise systems.

“This team had really strong views from day one about delivering real enterprise-grade compliance and interoperability,” Bocchio said.

Still, Synthflow operates in a hotly contested space. Giants like Sierra, led by ex-Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor, and Bland AI have already raised hundreds of millions in venture capital. But Astabatsyan remains confident. With a clear product roadmap and well-defined customer base, he believes Synthflow has entered what he calls a “post-product-market-fit” era.

“AI is evolving fast,” he said. “But we’re clear on who we serve and where we’re going over the next three to five years.”
